Great Coast Commons
Restaurant and Bar
Kenilworth, Illinois
“Next stop … Great Coast Commons!”
How cool is it that this awesome new restaurant and bar is located adjacent to a Chicago Metra train station? Established in 2020, Great Coast Commons made history by becoming the very first restaurant built in Kenilworth!
Crisp and classy, you are surrounded by custom wood paneling and trim décor. Nestled under decorative lamp lighting, the elegantly crafted wood bar is the crown jewel where friends and family gather to enjoy a refined, warm, and friendly ambiance. Trains go by on the tracks right outside the front picture windows, giving a cozy feeling for patrons … especially with the Midwest snow falling outside. What a unique experience!
Our clients, Chick Evans and Lauryn Pappas, and their intentional vision to design such a welcoming space led us to create an all new kitchen, bar, and dining area, and washrooms. In collaboration with Chick and Lauryn, we selected finishes and trim that enhanced the intimate, exciting energy of this cozy destination. A new attic and mezzanine space above opened things out further, giving extra functionality as well as presence for Great Coast Commons. Everything “under the hood” was designed to work flawlessly – with all new electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
What a wonderful 2,000 SF space to gather with your favorite people!

"Working with Mike Brick and his team at Epic Builders was a dream come true! Friendly, low key, low stress, no drama, completed on time and under budget, the Epic team and their veteran subcontractors worked in complete harmony to achieve an outstanding build-out for Great Coast Commons. Top quality craftsmanship, professional trades, and great communication among all resulted in a beautiful, functional, and durable restaurant.
Mike treated the project as his own before, during and after the build, always offering options weighing budget versus quality; providing relevant information and the benefit of his experience to support me in making great decisions along the way. The few challenges we faced were resolved quickly, completely and more than fairly.
Our Great Coast team and guests love the restaurant and often comment on the quality of the construction and finishes.
I give Epic Builders my highest recommendation. Mike Brick will be my first call when we're ready to build again!"
