Shine That Spotlight!
We love sharing things that make our clients happy, and of course we’ll enjoy a few kudos ourselves, too! Keeping things real at Epic means we also bring attention to news that’s worth boasting about. Among the numerous highlights worth sharing, many of our clients have garnered awards – and Epic is thrilled to be a part of creating their space.

Moody Tongue’s Michelin Magic
We want to exclaim high praises for our long-time, loyal client Moody Tongue Brewing Company! Did you know that they are the only brewpub in the nation to have a hefty two Michelin stars? They garnered this well-deserved ranking in 2021, and we couldn’t be prouder of their incredible achievement. Let’s give a huge congratulations to the entire team including Co-Owner Jeremy Cohn, Co-Owner and Brewmaster Jared Rouben, and Chef Jared Wentworth!
Part of the reason we are so excited for their achievements is because of our collaborations with them over the years. Not only have true friendships been forged between the Epic and Moody teams, but we are honored to have been an integral part of building both of their award-winning brewery locations (S. Peoria St. and S. Wabash Ave.). Their amazing focus and creativity are a brilliant inspiration for everyone, ourselves included — we continue to be inspired by the success of their incredibly talented brewery and culinary teams.
Epic’s philosophy of creating exceptional environments is seen in action with Moody Tongue. Well-equipped with beautiful brewery production systems, restaurant, kitchen and dining areas, they are geared perfectly for offering customers a sophisticated experience … with a remarkable group of people behind it all.
Thanks for letting us bask in the glow of your two brilliant stars, Moody Tongue!
Breweries of Epic Quality Sweep Awards!
If we can toot our own horn for just a moment …
The Epic Builders team is known as a premier brewery builder in Chicago, and we are VERY proud to also stake a claim in the status of building nationally recognized, award-winning breweries!
Some of the best (but not the only) highlights include three of our brewery builds taking home a total of FOUR awards from the 2018 Great American Beer Festival Awards. (Can we say WOW?!) These awesome clients of ours absolutely crushed the competition of other breweries from all over the country, taking home their well-deserved wins in this national brew-fest.
These tasty, accomplished beers are produced on-site using equipment and systems of Epic Quality, installed by our team and partners. This reflects our commitment to creating high-level production breweries so good, they can’t help but win awards!
We’d be amiss if we didn’t honor their names:
Alarmist Brewing
Gold Medal for “Le Jus” in the “Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale” category
ERIS Brewery and Cider House
Bronze Medal for “Foiken Haze” in the “Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale” categoryCorridor Brewery & Provisions
Silver Medal for “Color of Life” in the “Juicy or Hazy Imperial or Double India Pale Ale” category
Gold Medal for “Pour le Mineur” in the “other Belgian-Style Ale” category

In Search of the Holy Ale
Epic’s president Mike Brick is one lucky guy. In 2018, the title of honorary assistant brewer — in collaboration with clients Haymarket, Old Irving Brewing, Off Color Brewing, Pipeworks, and Alarmist Brewing — was given to Mike so he could create a brand new brew just for his upcoming birthday!
This unique experience brought Mike intimately into the brewing process on-site. What emerged was a fabulous, shiny new ale called “In Search of the Holy Ale”. Served for the first time at Mike’s big “6-0”, it was so tasty that the celebration continued being served (and sold-out!) to customers at Haymarket as a specialty brew.
What an unforgettable experience for Mike! It was such a rich, first-hand immersion into the intricacies of the brewing process from start to finish. Using equipment that Epic had installed over the years was the icing on the cake, too.
This meaningful collaboration impressed upon Mike even more significantly how much he cherishes Epic — the projects, relationships, creative challenges, accomplishments, his team — and the many ways his clients are very much at the center of the Epic family.
